VIDEO: Try This Shoulder Assessment Test Before You Start Training

The shoulder abduction test gives you hugely important information about your ability to stay in an optimal shoulder position, especially overhead.

If you can't 'pass' this test, you're not going to get nearly as much benefit as you could from shoulder exercises like: shoulder press, front raises, lateral raises, incline press (potentially), and many more.

It’s important to be 100% strict in your assessment, and if you can't complete this properly, be patient and work on the drills I've shown in this video to progress and improve.

Remember, as always, there's no point training a faulty movement pattern. Master the correct pattern instead. Then train it with increasing difficulty (higher load and/or higher reps and/or more speed) over time to continue your improvement.
