In same ways, posture is a complicated subject. For one thing, it’s hard to know where to start… so here is one simple way to improve posture.
The multitude of inputs that affect our body’s resting position include ergonomics at your work station, breathing patterns, the nature of your exercise program, how you sleep, your emotional state, past trauma, and the list goes on. At the same time, we need to remember that posture is a habit. So it’s absolutely feasible to build more awareness about our body’s alignment and to work on influencing it in a positive direction.
With that said, here’s a quick method of checking-in with your upper body (including shoulders, upper back and head position) and performing a quick reset during the day. This isn’t going to address every single postural issue, but it’s a terrific and very practical starting point.
